PHP Got Attacked This Week - And Still It Runs 70% Internet, Not Python
Guys, latest news just came - PHP got a bug. Two critical bugs.
Hackers tried to attack like crazy. Cloudflare itself said *millions of hacking attempts* happened in last few days.
PHP Foundation patched it fast. Their Executive Director Elizabeth Barron said luckily no one got hacked before they fixed it, if your system is updated you are safe.
Now think - who fixed it?
The PHP Foundation. And you know how many full-time people they have? *ONLY 1. One full-time employee and 14 part-time contractors.* That's it.
And these guys are handling the language that runs *70% of websites.*
Now Listen - PHP is the BRAIN, Not Python
Many new coders think Python is everything. No.
Let me clear it:
*PHP is the brain of web development.* It is the backend. It is what runs WordPress, Facebook, Wikipedia, all big sites. 70% websites = PHP.
*Python is not the brain of websites.* Python is used for AI, data science, automation. Some people use Python for website looks and small things, but real website ka engine is still PHP.
You make website beautiful with frontend, but without PHP, website will not run. Python can't handle that much load for websites.
And What is Happening Now?
Because of AI, everyone is now sending double code changes to PHP. AI helped to find 10-year-old bugs also - that's good. But work is double, people are same. Only 1 full-time guy.
And foundation has no money. They live on donations. Elizabeth Barron herself said - *"PHP is incredibly under-funded."*
I mean, imagine - 70% internet is running because of these few people, and they don't even have funding.
If PHP stops tomorrow, half internet will go down.
So respect PHP. Update your PHP. And if you are a company making money from websites, donate to PHP Foundation.
That's it.
